WARRI – THE International College of Pentecostal Bishops of Nigeria and Overseas, Monday, called for the immediate sack of the Central Bank Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido for allegedly using his position to create a policy that is threatening the unity of the country.
The College of Bishops in a statement signed by Bishop Simon Gbakara also joined the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in condemning the introduction of Islamic banking in Nigeria, saying, it is inimical to the unity of the country.
It stated that the Nigerian Christians were not afraid of introduction of Islamic banking as being insinuated in some quarters, but that were concerned about the continued oneness of the nation.
“The Nigerian Christians are not afraid but are worried about the separation effect the Islamic banking will bring on the long run. Also it is a way of indirectly Islamizing the country.
“We call on President Goodluck Jonathan to think of the unity and peace of the nation and jettison the idea of Islamic banking. We urge all Christians to pray for the nation and pursue peace in all their dealings”, they stated.
The group called for full of the Islamic fundamentalist sect, Boko Haram with a view to unmasking the sponsors and making them to face the music, adding that as a terrorist group, the government should use every force to wipe them out.
They frowned at the prosecution of the police officers over the killing of the Boko Haram leader and said, “The police should be commended for killing the terrorist leader and not to punish them.” , adding that the arrested members of the sect should be tried and prosecuted with immediate effect.
