The financial challenges facing film makers, movie producers, and other practitioners in the film industry will soon be over as the Nigerian Film Corporation, NFC is collaborating with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN, to make funds available for practitioners to grow their businesses.
The two organisations reiterated their commitment to lift film making industry from the realm of entertainment to the pinnacle of business during the opening ceremony of this year’s NFC annual training workshop, otherwise known as SHOOT 2011, held at the corporation’s Lagos office, Ikoyi.

He lamented that the absence of entrepreneurial and business skills in the Nigerian film industry have resulted in the practitioners placing more emphasis on the artistic aspect of film-making at the expense of the business aspect. This he said, has resulted in the sector’s inability to sustain the momentum of growth and development.
Adesanya further said it was against this backdrop that SHOOT initiative was conceived as a means of interfacing with industry practitioners from different backgrounds to have a common platform where exchange of ideas and experience are unfolded and shared.
He stated that since the inception of the workshop in 2005, the corporation has trained over 1000 practitioners and stakeholders in areas such as motion picture, camera skills and lighting techniques, production designs, documentary production and elements and techniques for funding, among many others.
