Bomb scare at UniJos

There was a mild drama at the Administrative Block of the University of Jos following another bomb scare which turned out to be a false alarm.

Some members of staff had raised alarm that someone dropped a bomb in the building.

A strange looking man was reported to have dashed in and out of the building and was nowhere to be found before he could be asked of his mission, raising suspicion that he might have gone in to drop an explosive.

The suspicion created anxiety among members of staff who vacated their offices until the anti-bomb squad of the police were invited to sweep the building but found nothing.

An official of the university who asked not to be named said the invitation to the police squad was a security measure to forestall any mishap.

He said members of staff returned to their offices after the police certified the building safe.

An eye witness said “we were afraid because the man looked like a Boko Haram member and he was acting in a very suspicious manner.”

Spokesman of Plateau Police Command, Mr. Apev Jacob confirmed to journalists that the police moved in promptly on being alerted of the suspicion but found nothing harmful after frisking the building.
