16 Finalist emerge from the MBIB Screening

A total of sixteen beautiful and talented young girls have emerged from the screening of the Miss Black is Beautiful pageant that took place recently at the Air Force Officers Mess, Kofo Abayomi Victoria Island, Lagos.
A total of 23 young and fresh models all from the garden of beauty participated in the screening exercise which comprised of three sessions. Each session witnessed each contestant cat walking the aisle amid the piecing eyes of the panel of judges which consisted of credible names in the industry like:
*Mrs. Onwuka
Monami, a renowned Nigerian designer ;Susan Eyo, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Glam Essence; Biola Boris, an international model of repute and Nikki Krian, Nigerian designer.
Despite the heavy rain and low turn out of audience, the judges did an excellent job of the screening process, which was not an easy task but eventually a total of sixteen girls emerged.
The grand finale which would be holding on September 4, 2011, is a contest that will produce annually a Black beauty who will represent Nigeria globally. It seeks to create super models from our young, black and beautiful women who possess outstanding qualities and elegance within the ages of 18-25.
Unlike other pageants, this pageant focuses on the beauty in being black, and produces dark skin supermodels these models will be Nigeria’s export to the world. Key attraction will be to create super brands like Naomi Campbell or Alek Wek on an annual basis and export to the world.
The first runners up will represent Nigeria at next year’s Miss West Africa UK.Other prices include the star price a car, modeling contracts, and cash.
According to the president of Miss Black is Beautiful, Mrs. Chioma Onwuka, the objectives of MBIB,  are to build a unique branding platform for marketing Nigeria to the world , to create an avenue for Nigerian youths to truly harness their potentials in modeling and fashion globally.
To create a platform for Nigerian models and agents to interact with international models and fashion top shots across the globe, to place Nigerian black beauties among the first top 10 super models in the world and to boost Nigeria’s tourism potentials, culture, image and reputation internationally.
