Chioma Toplis in a combat with Oge Okoye

The battle that begun so many months back between the screen diva Oge Okoye and Foreign based Chioma Toplis has persisted as it seems the country is becoming too small for the both of them. They used to be best friends, which is what baffles every one. The question still remains;'What could be the cause of their problem'? That os one question that still does not have an answer yet. The 'beef' is really getting to its peak as Chioma Toplis is driving it into the public. This what actress Chioma Toplis wrote on her facebook page on June 20. - "Please any one that knows actress Oge Okoye should tell her to free me o, as i am very very busy with my business which is why i am in Nigeria and do not and will never have time for her idle gossips and side talks. While you do please tell her also to concentrate in taking care of her children as i am doing too, and stop wasting her time discussing me as i am not the cause of her failed marriage.

Chioma wrote again: "While Oge Okoye is biting the fingers that fed her, she should also remember that those fingers could still choke her, especially MINE"
Oge is yet to respond.
Nothing they say is hidden under the sun but what ever it is that has been eating them up all this while, will surely be out soon. Lets keep watching.....

Onyeacho; the light behind the award winning figurine

By Daniel Alfred
Movie making in Nigeria is fast taking a new shape as great talents are beginning to spring up on daily bases. However, the name Chima Onyeacho is obviously not a name to reckon with in the movie industry but for those that are familiar with light in the making of movies, will understand that without it movie making is almost in jeopardy.
The young man whose name has recently continued to rock the industry and rose from his humble days as a production assistant, has struggled through thick and thin to drop his name in the book of history as well as creating a niche for himself as a light man in the industry. Haven been part of the crew that contributed to the success of the award winning movie, the Figurine, he described it as one of his highest point in the industry.
Speaking with HVP he described the challenges of lighting to every production he gets himself involved as well as the prestigious Figurine a great challenge but handles them as they come.
In his word, “Lighting for figurine was quite hectic but I thank God that today the job came out well and today it is recognized everywhere in the world. It gives me joy to know that I was part of the people who made the work come out successful and for that singular act, I am proud to say it. In no time to come, the bad eggs in the industry will gradually fizzle out. It gives me hope that movie making in Nigeria will some day grow to a point that we will compete with Americans over the Oscar award. We have the tendency to do good movies in the country better than what we are doing presently but the problem is that so many just dabble into it without proper knowledge. If we have a good story, good cast and good crew, I see Nollywood moving to the next level soon. What I am trying to say is that lighting in the movies helps to tell stories; it also helps to differentiate moods in different scenes and locations. For instance, in most cases when we had to film a night scene during the day, with the light, we can achieve a night scene and like wise. This is what I have been into though I started the industry as a production assistant but I had the opportunity to do a crash program with the Nigerian Film Institute and ever since, that has helped to differentiate my job from that of other of my colleagues in the industry. I was also part of the crew that did blackberry babes, Champions of our time which is in so many cinemas now and many others but my latest are tears for Lisa and My only man, which will soon hit the screen”.
Being a strong advocate of education, he believes that what ever it is one must do he must do it must be done well and to achieve the best, one needs to attain a training for that which he did and today, he is proud being a student of Nigerian Film Institute.

Annie Macaulay gets her groove back, storms movie set

By Daniel Alfred

For over two and half years now, it’s obvious that the popular screen diva and the mother of one Annie Marcurley, who has been off and on the big screen since her initial break through in 2005, has got her groove back as she now storms virtually all the movie sets with more scripts than ever.
Recently, the young and pretty diva was spotted by HA in a movie location where she openly declared that she is fully back big time to the industry and nothing ever will deter or set her back again.
Annie in her excited mood also opened up on her relationship with the popular music icon and the Ambassador to one of the giant communication network, in the country 2face Idibia, noting that her relationship with him, was fruitful and enjoyable while it lasted and that she is done with the relationship, adding that the only thing binding them together is their daughter.
According to her, “We try to be good friends, being good mother and father but not in any kind of relationship like people still insinuate. We are good as friends, good as mother and father and good as sisters and brother and we are matured about it. I am very much happier about my life because now, I am beginning to live my dreams. Parting ways with him is a kind of a stepping stone for me and since then I have begun to get the jobs coming. Right now I have scripts piled up in my room, I don’t even know how I m going to divide my self towards doing the job because of my daughter. I make sure that if I am going to stay on set for ten days, it has to be so because I have set aside four days to be with my daughter before going into the next job“.
When quizzed on how ready she is to get into a new relationship if it eventually comes, the sultry actress revealed that she is up for new relationship if she can get a sincere man whom she has concluded are difficult to find. ”Eventually, I will if I find some one that I am very compatible with. Someone that can make me laugh at all times. That will be a very good start you know but most men are boring. If you really can make me laugh, love my girl and if there is chemistry, then we are good to go. I don’t mind your colour, whether black or white, rich or poor I don’t mind. All I need is a good man which is very difficult to find. I like someone funny, good looking but not exactly perfect in looks but someone presentable enough. I love to have fun, for all that know me knows that I love to have a lot of fun. At the same time, I want a man that can as well put me in check because I am very stubborn so I need one that can be on check. Like so many guys that talks to me now, it’s like what ever I say is a yes. I need a man with a mind of his own. You just have a mind of your own and that will be it for real.
Annie also noted that so far, being a mother have been good and interesting but has been tough considering the fact that she has to shuttle between her job as an actress and giving her daughter a good life as a mother. But that not withstanding, she has vowed not to compromise her daughter for anything in the world and not even her career.

Between 2face and Dbanj wwho truly deserved the price?

2face and Dbanj in their stylish wears at the BET award 2011
From the look of things, it seem the two African music icons are not on the very challenge of who the best is. but not withstanding the duo still shares a stunning skill of performance as they both add to their various achievements by berging the BET award 2011. We are still buzzing about the “double whammy” award triumph by 2Face, the African queen crooner and the Koko master at the 2011 BET Awards. Just a few hours before the main show, BET Networks Chairperson Debra L. Lee hosted the 5th Annual Pre-BET Awards Celebration Dinner at Book Bindery in Culver City, California.

Hollywood actor Boris Kodjoe arrived at the event with his wife, actress Nicole Ari Parker Kodjoe. Nicole rocked a golden-hued ankara shift dress by Ghana-based Nigerian designer, Titi Ademola‘s label – KIKI Clothing. This is not the first time that Nicole has worn a piece by the label but she certainly stood out in a great way. We totally love the creative infusion of gold sheen into the ankara fabric.

Our heritage who will come to our aid?

A FEW years ago, Kano was the centre of the hides and skins market and home to many tanneries from where leather products were exported to Europe and Asia.
Tens of thousands were employed in the tanneries and related businesses from where they made a good living.
But all that belong to history as today, many elderly tannery-owners are in penury, their firms shut down.
Much of the blame, the old tannery owners say, lies with the Export Expansion Grant (EEG) policy grant of the Federal Government intended to boost a leading non-oil export commodity such as hides and skins in Kano State.
The old tannery owners and shoe makers whose businesses face imminent collapse are now crying out, asking the authorities to rescue them from the hands of corrupt public officials and their foreign collaborators.
One of them, Alhaji Kamilu Ila, who owns Globus Tannery in Challawa Industrial Layout, has raised alarm on the deleterious effects of the policy.
He said flaws in the EEG policy and corruption among government functionaries had favoured only a handful of mostly- foreign tannery owners, while what was left of the local industry was being steadily destroyed.
“Today, this traditional sector is being wiped out because local manufacturers cannot compete with companies that receive massively-inflated export grants.
“This has worsened the unemployment situation in Kano and other parts of the country.
“Some companies buy the skins locally at prices that are more expensive than international sales prices with the intention to inflate invoices and thereby, collect huge grants.
The problem is how the EEG is implemented. Under the policy, an exporter of skin gets 30 per cent of invoice-value as incentive.
“In other words, it is like saying that for every $100,000 worth of export, you get $30,000 free gift from government as incentive.
“So the question is: who determines the value of export?
“The exporter determines it.
“He is handed a blank cheque to do so. Skin export is not like oil, gold or any of these exportable commodities quoted in the international market.
“It is these monies running into billions of naira that they use to out-price us in the local leather market.
“I inherited this industry, which used to employ over 150 workers from my father in the 80s shortly after I left the university.
“Today, we can’t operate effectively because of the abuse in the system.”
Also aggrieved that the EEG policy may sound the death knell to his business is United Kingdom- trained Malam Bashir Danyaro.
An expert in leather technologist, Danyaro, in 2000 set up Whanu Shoe Factory, which employed 200 workers before the EEG policy.
“ Regrettably, today, I can no longer buy leather in the local market because I have been out-priced by expatriates in the industry.”
Danyaro, who used to produce shoes for the Nigerian Army says if government fails to intervene, his outfit may not survive.
Another industrialist, Dr. Aliyu Nabegu also lamented that the EEG policy emerged without the input of critical stakeholders.
Pointing out that the textile industry collapsed due to the abuse of a policy similar to the EEG, Nabegu wondered why the Federal Government would create a monster to undermine the socio –economic development of the country.
A consultant to the Tannery Industrial Sector in Kano, Dr. Muhammad Sagagi also argued that whatever informed the EEG policy was no longer tenable today.
“We should learn from the experience of the cotton sector, where it is now easier to import it from China than to go to nearby Funtua.”
Danyaro, Nabegu and other Kano spoke for industrialists whose tanneries have been struggling to survive in the Kano industrial layouts in Challawa, Sharada and Bompai, Kano.
They say if the EEG regime stays, Kano, and the country, which also relies on hides, and skin would not be relieved of unemployment, which is behind youth restiveness and violent crime in the polity.
They want the EEG abrogated and funds for it used to provide social services such control of toxic waste emissions from the tanneries and other socially desirable projects like roads, water and electricity generation plants.
About a decade ago, there were over 30 functional tanneries in the northern part of the country.
Today, with the exception of G.B Tannery, Globus Tannery, B.B Tannery, Daram Tannery, God’s Little Tannery, Fine Leather, Kano Tannery and Multitan that are partially active, all others have gone under.
Head of the Kano Tannery Council, Alhaji Lawal Sule Garo, who admitted he was forced to sell his tannery due to insufficient funds, disagrees with calls for the scrapping of the EEG. He said the Tannery Industrial Sector, just like other non –oil exporters of cashew nuts, cocoa, palm produce, shrimps, snails, and sesame produce required the EEG incentives to remain in business.
“What I want those complaining to know is that the EEG is not a handout; they have to earn it through the due process.
“ So anybody calling for the scraping of the EEG is not saying the real truth. They are not making it either because they lack managerial capacity or they lack working capital."

Now that the new video and even a newer single have been pushed out, Morachi’s label II-Flame Ent. is ready to introduce his new brand “The god of passion” which is an encapsulation of how sexy and sensationally passionate his personality is.

Let my ex-hubby be, BEGS Kenny St Brown

BY CHARLES MGBOLU

Divorce is such a horrible experience many people would not even wish their enemies. After more than two years of separation from ex-hubby, Eddy Montana of the defunct Remedies Group, Kenny St Brown may not have overcome the trauma contrary to reports that insisted she has moved on.

Recently, Kenny was sighted at the launch of the DJ’s Association of Nigeria, DJAN, held in Ikeja, Lagos, where Shwotime Celebrity engaged her in a chat. But she would not stand the mention of her ex-hubby’s name Eddie.

Read on…

Why are you at this event?

I really thank God for the life of these DJ’s. You know they have brought a lot of celebrations into lives, into homes, they brought a lot of celebration to the lives of musicians, they’ve brought a lot of content to the radio and television and other media channels.

Yet they have been grossly neglected and so now that they have come together to be one, it is now time for them to be put in the position that they belong. Just look at hip hop music, five or ten years ago, there was nothing for us, even me rebranding, music then wasnt speaking one language. It only the DJ’s who had the enthuaism, the energy and they have been able to pull through and remain relevant all these years. I am very happry for them.

Many of these DJ’s work with radio stations, many will think your support here is a facade; that your attending the event to persuade them into playing your songs more often?

That’s ridiculous! It would be selfish to think they are only going to be playing my songs. They can only give me five minutes in their whole segment of hours. That couldn’t translate into me taking over air play with my songs.

Even without me being here they have been doing that. It’s just that it feels good when you know there is symbiotic relationship. You know artists are, selfish, forgetfull, ingrates if I could call them that, but we from Kennis music stables want to tell them that not all artitste are like that. As we go up, they deserve as DJs to go up too. This is why we are here to support them because they have been here before we got here. When we go they will still be here.

They deserve to go up, they deserve branding themselves. Thank God for DJ Jimmy Jat, he has done so well. But we think that there should be more diffusion here. Corporate bodies should stop cuing behind one DJ until he has time before they can do shows. There are a lot of other DJ’s out there that are equally very good. Jimmy is a land lord in Lagos, I believe the others too deserve the same, they should be smiling to the banks as well. They don’t have to be on the radio chanting their names, majority of them are street Djs, they deserve all the patronage and support they can get.

Let us move to your music career now. What’s on the table for you now?

What’s next for me now is the fact that I have rebranded from mainstream church Gospel to street gospel. That is; taking the gospel from the church to the streets with my song; reaching the unreached. It is not everybody that you put on serious gospel tunes that get tuned to it. Most times, you have to do it in their own language, in the way they know it, in their own way of life. You catch their attention so that they can work with the content of the song and that is why I first worked with Dagrin. He is a street boy; he helped me take my work to the streets.

I later worked with Ice prince in a song called ‘Alaye’ – now that is a street language. I also just released a video, a few weeks ago with TerryG. It’s a swagger. And the song is called ‘Mo ti gun oke’ It’s a victory song. I called it double swagger and guess what we are preaching, if your God dey dull you, then try our own God, he is Jehovah el Swagger (laughs). All the youths know understand is swagger swagger. If that is the language, I want to sell God to them that way then. I also did another song with MI called Suger suger, and with Eldee called Live your life. These are the videos I want to drop before the year runs out.

We hear you have a new company?

Yes the company is called Eva laviva. It is a comapny I set up to take care of all female entertainers including female Djs. Our female entertainers are not getting the patronage as they should get.

Look at girls in Nollywood girls getting all the patronage and branding but then it is the singers that are getting all the national and international awards. MTV Base, MAMA, Channel 0, Soundcity you name it and they are not getting patronage like that. Sasha, is right now MTV Base Africa number one female artiste, yet you won’t see someone branding Sasha. Ok, Mocheda got a very small branding from a hair company but this is a girl with a Channel O awards, as the MTV base new female artiste in Africa, no one is getting celebrated for it.

No government has called them to office and said this is the reward. No recognition anyware. When Kanu was footballer of the year, he was given an award. This is exactly what Eve laviva wants to cater for; to bring about that visibilty and create that positive image that will bring about the patronage and honour to our female entertainers. It’s not a Kenny St brown thing, it’s what my heart cry out for that the girls be celebrated.

Let’s go more personal now, how is your daughter?

My daughter is great, she goes to school with her brother.

How is their relationship with their father?

(Composure changes, she angrilly shakes her head and gives a ‘NO’ hand sign) That is not part of why we are here.

We know but…

That is not why we are here.

You don’t want to talk about Eddie for any reason?

I don’t. Definitely.

We just want to know how the relationship has been between them and their father?

I can only be a mother, I can’t be both mother and father. As a single parent, you can only be a mother. You can’t both. God can give you the grace to cope by making the resources available and so you are aome how able to play the role but when it comes to the emotional feeding, that balances up parenting where there is a mother and father, it just isnt there. In terms of the connection, I can only be mummy, I can’t be daddy. It the way things are for now.

Eddie has said he wants you back, can you comment on that?

I’m walking way.

Rukky Sanda goes gaga on set

The name Rukky Sanda might not ring a bell but her picture will definitely give you a glimpse of the stuff the sultry actress is made of.

Since launching her into the mainstream movie world, Rukky has proved her mettle not only as a good actress but also, as a reputable producer with about three movies to her credit. Presently, she’s on location, producing her latest movie. HVP spotted her on set, where she was looking stressed up, and worn out. All effort to chat with her proved abortive as she was not in a good mood to grant interviews.

Judging from her facial expression, the actress turned producer whom her foes often describe as being ‘ rude”is currently looking emaciated, resulting from the prolonged movie production which supoosed to have lasted for a period of ten days but now, it has stretched beyond the duration. And Rukky complaining openly, noting that each day spent on set , take a toll on her pocket.

Our checks revealed that Rukky, is play a lead role in the movie. But despite the trouble, the sexy actress has been able to weather the storm, while producing her other films, a situation which gives her the courage to face the present challenges.

CAMPUS; The tale of female undergraduates, their part-time 'RUNS'

By Florence Amagiya
Some female undergraduates are gradually turning to prostitution in their bid to meet up with the lifestyle they have carved out for themselves on campus. Ordinarily, the higher institution is a place where the young adult finds herself alone for the first time in his or her life. He or she is forced to take decisions for good or bad and if not properly guided, could make grave mistakes.

So, it appears normal when young adults indulge in sexual activities, especially if they are left on their own for a long time. In most cases, that will be the first time they are going into this act of free unchecked sex. Some of these young adults get heart broken or otherwise.

A new dimension has howeverbeen added to this trend. It is called ‘sex for cash’ otherwise known as hustling and it is the order of the day in most higher institutions of learning. Although this infamous course does not earn anybody a degree, it’s so popular that many female undergraduates partake in it, not just to make ends meet but to make fortunes out of it.

According to Johnson, a final year student of University of Lagos (Unilag), who said he is a liaison officer in this illicit business. “If you drive to one of the female hostels on campus or off campus in the evenings, you will be surprised at what you will witness. Girls in every shape, colour and size will be parading, looking for any available guy who is loaded with cash and ready to spend. It is not really difficult to identify the student sex hawkers on campus. They give themselves away with their provocative dressing or their near nude dresses.

They could also be identified by their body language or general mannerisms. Different cars of different sizes drive into these hostels at this time of the evening to catch fun and you will definitely get your groove if you have the money to waste on these girls”.

In Lagos State University, Ojo (Lasu) Saturday Vanguard met Kemi, the owner of one of the restaurants off campus who told us that “sex business among LASU female students is big and it is getting bigger by the day and hermy business is booming also as the girls are busy bringing men to restaurants to spend money on drinks and pepper soup which is in high demand and sometimes I am not able to meet up with their demands” According to her, the business of selling drinks and pepper soup to these girls is bigger and better when the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is on strike.

In University of Benin (Uniben), Gloria, a third year student told us that these girls strut their stuff without a care in the world and they have elevated their trade to an art. They compete, like professionals, to attract the attention of men and if by stroke of luck they are opportuned to travel, they do without a care to long distances to see their aristoes. They definitely have people they pay to write tests, assignments and even examinations for them. They eventually graduate but cannot defend their degrees and sometimes one is forced to wonder if they ever visited the four corners of the University”.

In Enugu, Uche told us that, “these ladies with the help of male and female pimps whose business is to get good deals for mouth- watering percentages sleep with politicians and other highly placed individuals. They are the same ladies you meet in your hotel rooms after the long party you had with your friends downstairs. Some of them are thieves, others are killers and some of them come protected with charms and everything they can lay their hands on. They know like every good business man going for a deal to be prepared, that life is survival of the fittest or smartest”.

Recent reports reveal that these girls are into networking of this trade. They stand in for each other if the other person is busy somewhere with another customer. The friend available takes charge and gives the friend’s customer a delicious treat while apologizing on her friend’s behalf and vice versa. The ones who remain on campus have their photographs placed in albums in hotels and get calls when a prospective client is interested.

Psychologists advice that parents and guardians take care of their wards. They should know that a growing child cannot be bigger than her parents. They should be able to visit these children at school to know when they are in session or when they are not. These children should know that they should be home during holidays or strike period. Parents are advised to find out the kind of life kids are living on campus, where they get the money they lavish on themselves and put a check on them on time. And always remember that a stitch in time saves nine.

JAMB releases 2011 UTME results, 842,851 candidates score below 200 marks

ed between 200-249 and 67,732 scored between 250-269 as well as 31, 444 others, who scored between 270-299 marks.”

Out of this, the JAMB according him, is currently investigating the results of 7, 504 candidates, from some centres which he said are suspicious, and so the results must undergo further screening because of the unusual performances recorded by candidates from those centre.

He stated further that a total of 15, 160, representing 1.014 % of candidates, who participated in the examination were involved in exam malpractices.

On the issue of invalid and incomplete results that characterized the conducted of the exercise last year, Prof. Ojerinde announced a remarkable reduction from 82,000 cases in 2010 to 28, 069 in this 2011 exercise.

According to him, “this figure, 28,069, although is a remarkable reduction in the previous one. It still remains high. In the years ahead, we will further bring down the figure drastically. Our target is to totally eliminate this phenomenon by drumming it to our examiners to do checks on candidates during the examinations.”

Prevail on NNPC over kerosene price hike, Lagos Assembly tells FG

BY Gbenga Akanmu of vanguard newspapers
The Lagos State House of Assembly, yesterday, urged President Goodluck Jonathan, to as a matter of urgency, direct the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, to live up to the expectation of Nigerians by ensuring adequate supply and proper pricing of petroleum products, particularly kerosene, across the country.

The motion was moved during the plenary session of the House by Mr Rotimi Olowo, who argued that it was high time the Federal Government found lasting solution to the recent hike in the price of kerosene in the country.

He said, “It is very pathetic that a country that produces crude oil cannot provide enough kerosene for its citizenry and this had led to suffering and health hazards to people, as many have resorted to the use of coal to prepare meals. If we cannot cater to the needs of people, what is the essence of the government, because 1999 Constitution stipulates that the government should cater for the welbeing of the entire citizenry.”

In his contribution, Mr Ipoola Omisore, said it would amount to aggravating the people’s suffering if the House should wait for the Federal Government’s intervention on recent hike in kerosene price before the state government finds ways of alleviating the problem the people of Lagos State are facing.

According to him, “if we wait for the government at the federal level to check the situation, things may go out of hand. I, therefore, call on our Governor, Babatunde Fashola, to find a lasting solution to the hike in price of kerosene in Lagos so as to make life bearable for the citizens because he (Governor) can ensure that petroleum products are bought in large quantity and made available for the people at affordable prices.”

Mr Dayo Fafunmi, on his part, said the government should empower the task force to search and shut down any filling that sales above the regulated price of kerosene, so as to serve as deterrent to others.

How to beat jealousy in a relationship

Overview
According to Self Esteem Awareness, jealousy happens when the actions of one partner or an outside party create a perceived threat to a relationship. Sometimes this threat is real, and you should be feeling jealous about your partner's behavior. But sometimes the threat is not real, and this can lead to miscommunication, fighting and a rift with your partner. You need trust, a sense of security and a solid framework for your relationship to overcome the green-eyed monster of jealousy.

Step 1
Evaluate the jealousy. Healthy jealousy occurs when the reason for the jealousy is real, such as when one partner appears to be flirting with someone else. Unhealthy jealousy occurs when a partner's fidelity is questioned because of behavior that does not rationally give reason for the jealousy. Unhealthy jealousy can appear as aggression, irrational beliefs and controlling behavior.

Step 2
Make a list of your good qualities. Write down reasons you think you are valuable to your partner and any compliments your partner has given you. According to Ask Men, you should remember why you partner has chosen you and understand that you deserve your partner.

Step 3
Reflect on previous relationships. Think about whether you have been jealous in the past and how it affected previous relationships. Consider how you and your partner felt in those previous instances, what actions you took to correct the problem and how the relationship ended.

Step 4
Address the problem in a direct way. If you feel jealous, tell your partner what triggers your feelings and what will make you feel more secure. If your partner is jealous, explain how it makes you feel and how it impacts your relationship. Take a 10-minute break if the conversation becomes too heated.

Step 5
Establish rules for your relationship. Set boundaries about what behaviors you think are allowed and aren't in a relationship. Knowing what is off-limits can help to avoid future feelings of jealousy.

Glo’s support for African Voices boosts development

Perhaps, one of the glowing attributes of Glo, is its support for development and the exposure of the African continent to the world.

This was again demonstrated last weekend during one of the editions of AFRICAN VOICES, a programme on Cable News Network, CNN, wholly sponsored by Glo.

Its guest was no other person than the Sultan of Sokoto, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Saad Abubakar.

For the wrong perception which though gained ground about Africans but which is fast changing, regarding the backwardness of the continent and the erroneous impression that African royalty lacks intelligence or education, the erudition of Sultan Abubakar, his bluntness and candor, as well as his gait, all came together to give a good projection of royalty on the one hand, and of the concept of rulership of an empire that remains enduring. All thanks to Glo’s sp[onsorship of the programme.

The Sultan declared during the programme that politicians have failed the people of Nigeria just as he maintained that politicians sometimes create crises and give them religious colouration.

The Sultan also made it clear that the issue of Islamic fundamentalism and the crises associated with some of the crises in the country can be traced to the activities of politicians who arm and give the youths money to create crises.

Sultan Abubakar, however, noted that fundamentalists are in the minority.saying:

“Every where you have bad eggs who do not agree with what you are doing but they are always in the minority so you don’t have much problem but the majority are the ones that matter. The majority are the ones who really matter and we are the majority”.

Dating tips I learned from being a waitress

I was a waitress on and off for a few years, and it gave me a surprising amount of insight about dating and relationships. It's one of the benefits of observing people as well as being able to converse with them. I also overheard quite a few conversations, some of which certainly caught me off guard. Being a waitress is typically not an easy job, but you meet a lot of people, and after awhile, you're able to point things out about them from across the room that may seem less obvious to those around them. Whether I was a counter waitress or waiting on tables, I learned quickly that you can learn quite a bit about dating and relationships just by listening and observing.

Don't monopolize the conversation

I can't tell you how many times I watched two people on a date where one person was monopolizing the conversation and the other could barely say a single word. I would see the silent person's face go from interested to bored to irritated and the other person didn't seem to have a clue. When you're conversing with your date, ask questions and listen well. You're also there to enjoy the food, so don't rush to fill every bit of silence with chatter -- especially when you're chewing at the same time. Speaking of which, talking with your mouth full is not attractive.

Little surprises will get you major points

One night, a woman walked off to the restroom and her date frantically waved me over and asked if he could quickly have two slices of cake. As I placed them on the table, he apologized for rushing me and told me he wanted to surprise his date because it was her favorite cake and he wanted to show her he remembered that she told him about it weeks before. She had a look of confusion and surprise as she sat down, and he presumably told her what he told me, because her face lit up and she had a big smile on her face. When you take the initiative to surprise someone you care about, it can completely make their day and earn you some major points. Also, listening well is going to be a major part of having a good relationship.

Beware of the cell phone

There is a good chance that your partner, at one point or another, searched through your phone when you weren't looking and checked your texts or missed calls. I've seen more than enough people grab their date's phone when the person got up from the table to use the restroom. I've also seen plenty of arguments over what was found. Several times, the person even had permission to use the phone for one reason or another. There's a few things to learn from this situation; lock your phone and don't do anything that can be considered scandalous with anyone other than the person you're dating and, if you do, don't leave the information on your phone, especially if you give your partner permission to use it. Also, whether or not you have permission to use someone's phone, it doesn't mean you're allowed to snoop.

There's no age limit for a new relationship

There was an older couple I was waiting on once and they looked so in love with each other it was amazing. When I put down their drinks, the older gentleman looked at me with a smile and said about his date "Isn't she beautiful? It's our two year anniversary." Another waitress told me the couple is in their early 70's. Despite what some may think, they're a true testament that there's no age limit for finding a new love.

Being nice to waitstaff can make or break your date

As any waitress could tell you, not every customer is going to be nice. When you're on a date and you're rude to your waitress, there's a good chance your date is not going to be happy. A guy was once so rude to me I thought his date was going to throw her plate at him. He didn't ask nicely for anything, he only demanded. He also threw his gum into a cloth napkin, handed it to me with the gum stuck on top of it, and told me to hurry and bring him a new one; the rude behavior continued for the rest of the time he was there. On the way out, his date apologized for his behavior and told me she's never seeing him again. The nicer you are to those around you and not just to your date, the more it's going to put you in a good light.

The best dates were always when each person had general respect for each other. They listened to their date, asked questions, and genuinely just wanted to put a smile on the person's face. It's easy to be nervous when you're out with someone you like, but the next time you're on a date, keep in mind that the best thing you can do is be yourself, be respectful, show interest and everything else will fall into place.

Soldiers, Police clashes again in Lagos

Soldiers engaged policemen in a clash again, yesterday, at Obanikoro, Ikorodu road, following an attempt to tow the vehicle of a military personnel for encroaching on BRT lane.

The incident which occurred in the early hours, left several policemen and soldiers wounded. A television camera man was also injured.

Trouble started when policemen attached to the Lagos State Task Force on Environment and Special Offences, led by Superintendent Bayo Sulaimon, made to impound the car of a female Air Force officer who shunned warnings from the task force men, and drove her car, with registration number SD 754 KJA, on the Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, lane.
Attempts to impound the car attracted the attention of some other military personnel around the scene who tried to rescue their colleague. The attempt sparked off free for all.

The brawl..

During the clash, a soldier, who removed his name tag to avoid being identified; one of the task force operatives, identified as Samuel Uto and a Channels TV cameraman, sustained different degrees of injuries, two vehicles, including a towing van belonging to the task force, were allegedly damaged in the process.

The Air Force woman htried to drive her car away not knowing that an iron spike had been placed in front of the car.
Her car climed the spike, punching one of the tyres which made it easy for the task force people to tow the vehicle.
In the confusion that ensued, a soldier, whose car had registration number KE 507 EKY, came out and carefully removed name tag on his uniform.

He suddenly went hysterical, calling the police officers names and dared anyone to tow his vehicle. His behaviour infuriated the policemen who had earlier set free 10 vehicles driven by soldiers for the same offence.
In the melee that ensued, the male soldier, a lance corporal, gave one of the policemen a head butt which led to a fight.

The soldier later called for reinforcement. When this failed, one of the policemen had to fire teargas into the air causing a pandemonium.

Several policemen at the scene fled on sensing danger, while only a few remained to sort things out.

A Divisional Police Officer, DPO, who came to maintain peace ran for his life when he saw battle ready soldiers advancing to the scene of the incident.

A victim being rescued.

The presence of the soldiers made other policemen at the scene to run away. Although the soldiers were armed, no shot was fired.

It was learnt that Governor Fashola on receiving the report got across to the military command which quickly stepped into the matter and is currently investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, a police car driven by a sergeant and a Customs vehicle had earlier been towed by the task force for violating the BRT lane.

Even a vehicle belonging to the Lagos Central Business District, CBD Enforcement unit with the registration number LA 23 CBD was also towed for a similar offence.

Aliko Dangote Biography and Life History

Aliko Dangote, the First Nigeria’s Billionaire was born on the 10th of April year 1957. He is the founder of Dangote Group. He is considered one of the richest men in Africa.
He said “I assume I have to be rated by Forbes magazine prior to being called the richest man in Africa” But, you know, I’m very comfortable.

“He ranked first in Nigeria in Forbes Magazine’s 2008 list of the richest people in the world with a fortune estimated at 3.3 billion dollars.
Aliko Dangote is the ‘golden child’ of Nigerian business circles. The Dangote consortium spans across numerous sectors of the Nigerian economyThe Dangote Group suppliescommodities like cements ,sugar, salt, flour , rice, spaghetti, fabric etc at very competitive prices.

As a nonpartisan and detribalized businessperson, he is generous to different political parties, religious groups and cultural institutions.

Apart from offering employment opportunities to elite graduates from different ethnic backgrounds, he reduces the level of crime by engaging youths who are school leavers in the area of transportation, product packaging, security amidst others.

It may possibly not be a wild assumption to say that all Nigerian has heard of his name due to the impact of his business. His goods are practically in most homes across the country. People who may not use his products might have passed a few of his trailers by the way.

He’s into exporting, importing, manufacturing, real-estate and philanthropy. All of these are combined together to form what is known as the Dangote Group.
At the helm of its affairs as president and Ceo is definitely an humble person called Aliko Dangote. The focus of his investments is food, clothing as well as shelter.

The Dangote Group imports 400,000 metric tonnes of sugar annually which makes up about 70 % of the total requirements of the nation and is a major supplier of the product to the manufacturers of Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola and Seven-Up in Nigeria.

It imports 200,000 metric tonnes of rice annually just as the company imports tonnes of cement and fertilizer and building materials. Dangote Group also imports fish and owns three big fishing trawlers chartered for fishing with a 5,000 MT capacity. The group exports cotton, cocoa, cashew nuts, sesame seed, ginger and gum Arabic to several countries globally.
His Beginning

Born in Kano, his grand father, the late Alhaji Sanusi Dantata provided him with a small capital to start his own business, as was the practice then. He thus started business in Kano in 1977 trading in commodities and also building supplies.

Alhaji Aliko Dangote moved to Lagos in June 1977 and persisted in trading cement and commodities. Encouraged by tremendous success and increase in business activities, he incorporated two companies in 1981. These as well as others that followed now make up the conglomerate known as The Dangote Group.
Company Activities

Dangote Group today is associated with diverse types of manufacturing with good revenues. Dangote textile and the Nigeria Textiles Mills Plc, which it acquired, produce over 120,000 meters of finished textiles daily. The group has a ginnery in Kankawa, Katsina State with a capacity of 30,000 MT of seeded cotton annually.

The sugar refinery at Apapa port, Lagos is the largest in Africa and in size the third largest worldwide with an annual capacity of 700,000 tonnes of refined sugar annually. It also has another 100,000 tonne-capacity sugar mill at Hadeja in Jigawa State.

Besides having significant investment in the National Salt Company of Nigeria at Ota, Ogun State, the group has salt factories at Apapa as well as Calabar, a polypropylene bagging factory which produces essential bags for its products, over 600 trailers for effective distribution network and goods meant for export can also successfully be transported to the respective ports.

A vehicle leasing unit with over 100 fully air-conditioned commuter buses, is also part of the Dangote Group. It is also into real estate with luxury flats and high rise complexes in Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Abuja and Kano. Dangote Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the group where yearly he spends millions for worthy causes such as contributions to educational and healthcare institutions, sinking of boreholes and giving of scholarships.

The Dangote Group has nationwide staff strength of 12,000 but on completion of on-going projects, it is expected to hit 22,000. Alhaji Aliko Dangote’s business success may be influenced by various factors. He seems to be broad-minded. Unlike some people, his Personal Assistant is Yoruba while his Head of Corporate Affairs is a Christian from Delta State.

In this encounter, Dangote talks about his driving force in business, the factors that have kept him above his contemporaries in business, his $800 million cement factory at Obajana, Kogi State and the N14 million mega company, which he and some industrialists have set up. Perhaps above all, his patriotic stance is commendable: “If you give me today $5 billion, I will not invest any abroad, I will invest everything here in Nigeria. Let us put heads together and work.”

As a self-employed person, with minimum basic education, he proves that business success is usually through strength of mind, honesty and perseverance; and not necessarily by obtaining Harvard-Oxford certificates or First-Class academic qualification. His managerial skills surely are the envy of economic professors.

Instead of stashing his funds in foreign accounts, a typical feature of fraudulent front and public office looters, Dangote invests wisely in the productive sector of the Nigerian economy. To deny that Dangote doesn’t have monopoly over a few of the commodities in the Nigerian market is to deny the obvious.

Recently himself and other notable Nigerians announced their intention to float a private sector mega company with the name Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (TCN), which amongst other things may acquire government-owned refinery, operate strategic state-owned coys and pioneer status in Agriculture & Information Technology.

Nigerian most sought after comedian and one time special adviser to the former Governor of Imo State, Okey Mc Anthony aka Okey Bakassi was involved in a near ghastly auto accident.

According to report, the comedian cum special adviser was traveling to Owerri alongside Kingsley Ogoro also a prolific filmmaker and producer all the way from Lagos when the car being driven by Okey, lost grip of the coal tar and somersaulted three times.
Though the car in the process turned into total wreck but with God's intervention, the duo escaped freely as they sustained not a single injury in the process.

Why lesbianism thrives in Nigerian universities

Higher institutions of learning in Nigeria, degrees are awarded after students have been found worthy in character and learning. But with the level of moral decadence that has set in, one cannot but wonder whether graduating students still fulfill the clause on the certificate most of them brandish.

The days of “Aristo”, where female students are packaged for rich men outside their campuses seem to be fading away gradually. It is a modernized form of prostitution used by female students to meet their financial needs. There are also tales of students who went into “Aristo runs” just for the sake of adventure. It is an open secret that girls from higher institutions attend social functions just to be noticed by rich patrons who would thereafter pay for being kept company by such girls.

Though the Aristo's bug is a vice that has eaten deep into various higher institutions, Street Journal’s investigations have revealed that lesbianism which is the female version of homosexuality, has taken root and continued to rock most of our Nigerian universities. Why it is so and the reason behind it is what we are yet to ascertain. meanwhile the act which many believe is alien to African culture, has become so acceptable to those involved in it that they even flaunt their partners.

The male-female relationship seems to be going out of vogue in recent time as it is now a serious competition amongst the lesbian and those in normal relationship thing. In most institutions, those involved in the act include poor students, who are often in it to get attached to rich partners; some students from affluent backgrounds are also involved too. With their financial muscles, they attract and lure other female students to bed. There is also a third category of those who are doing it just to catch their fun.

when my breasts falls, I will look back at my old pictures and smile – Cossy Orjiakor

If Cossy Orjiakor were a swimmer, her area of specialty would probably be breaststrokes. She, however, chose showbiz. Though not on the tall side, the Anambra-born attention seeker sure knows how to flaunt her ‘endowment’ without any reservation.

She may not have made a name as a gifted actress, but Cossy is legendary for wearing clothes that reveal more than her cleavages. But unknown to many, her trademark breasts could sometimes be a source of embarrassment as she revealed.

Cossy Orjiakor

Cossy has featured in a couple of home videos and a handful of musical videos with the likes of Abass Obesere, Pasuma Wonder and a host of others.

Both her fans and critics would have noticed that she has been out of circulation lately. When asked what has been happening to her, she said she has been doing some good stuff, which includes working on a music project at the moment.

Cossy Orjiakor

“First of all, I’m no more going to involve myself in any movie again because haters and backbiters have forced me out of Nollywood. Acting is not a do or die affair for me, so I just had to leave acting for them,” she said.

A February 18 message on her facebook page read: “My pictures are cute and sexy. My grandchildren will know I was super hot and when they (breasts) finally fall I will look back at these pictures and smile.

“I’m a diva not your regular celebrity. I quit acting a long time now, so there is no bouncing back. I’m just little me, living my life to the fullest. The pictures and all I do are for my die-hard fans. If u don’t like me go hug transformer.”

She, however, revealed that a new project is under wraps for now and she would let the cat out of the bag soon enough.

Her words: “You all will know what I am up to when the time is right but for now I’m fully committed to my music career, though I’m not planning to release an album because all I’m doing now is to get myself more occupied.”

There is no middle ground with Ms Orjiakor. Her style and attitude is very much ‘in your face’. That explains why there is hardly a middle ground in people’s perception of her. Those who are for her support her all the way and her critics thinks she is something the cat dragged in.

Some see her as a sex symbol and she feels good about that.

Cossy Orjiakor

“It feels good being seen as a sex symbol. I mean I get the chance to have all the attention,” said the young woman with the squeaky voice.

Not many parents will support a cause like Cossy’s, but she is lucky to come from a home like hers.

Her parents, she said, have always supported her in whatever she does. That, of course, includes her erotic dancing and near nude acting.

“They adore me,” she said of her parents. She revealed that she has been faced with various challenges in her life and the most challenging of them has being her decision to go into the music industry and she gives thanks to God for seeing her through.

Though little is known about Cossy’s love life, she said she is not all about sex, and that, in fact, she is a romantic lady.

“You may not believe it, but I am a very romantic person,” she added.

This, however, does not mean that she has not been having a healthy sex life. In he words, she has had a “busy sex life”.

Asking her to name the lucky guy in her life is somewhat a Herculean task. She declined, saying, “that is personal to me but the man in the picture is someone that allows me drive out in the middle of the night without asking me where my destination is, he truly loves me for who I am and I’m always committed to him in every way.”

So, how soon does she intend to walk down the aisle with her lucky man? That would depend on when she is ready.

Handling the many men that are attracted to her must be a full-time job. She said that dealings with them would actually “depend on how good-looking they are but for now I have a man of my own.”

It probably won’t surprise many to hear from Cossy that the breasts she flaunts so much could actually be a source of embarrassment. She confessed that they once earned her the embarrassment of her life at a mini mart.

“My boobs popped out of the bra in a supermarket and people thought I was holding some huge water melons, it was really very embarrassing,” she said. When asked if she has been sexually harassed, an amused Cossy said, “Oh, a guy tried to squeeze my boobs, but I was not mad at him though.”

One would have thought a sex symbol like Cossy will have pornography stars as role models, but she said her only role model is her mother and according to her, she had an excellent growing up in Enugu with her mother.

THE DIRTY MONEY MAKING SECRETES OF MOST NOLLYWOOD ACTRESSES

The notion of most Nollywood actresses is that the meager they receive from acting would not give them the high standard of living they crave for, hence they engaged in corporate prostitution.

It has become very rampant in recent time that most of our so called popular faces engage in corporate prostitution.

According to sources, the messy deal is carried out both locally and internationally as those who get involved have people who hook them up locally in various states of the federation and internationally by publicists and managers.

Local charges, we gathered, depends on the class of the actress and the buyer’s financial capability, as we learn't that the fees range from #150,000 to #200,000 thousand per round of sex, while politicians pay as much as #500,000 per night to top actresses and go as far as giving them jeeps and other cars for one month of service.

We equally gathered that months of dating and warming the bed of top politicians have earned most of Nollywood big babes’ properties in different parts of the country. Another avenue is created through political conferences which have over the years been alleged to witness an influx of Nollywood gorgeous babes who always land juicy appointments to make the night cold-free. It was informed that the pay they usually go home with from the political conferences depends on the ability of the girl to play her game perfectly, as contracts and proposals are eventually signed the following day.

A source disclosed to us that lots of fast rising actresses hustle to get the contact of state Governors whom they call to get appointments either for one night deal or for a full weekend. But the business does not pay all the time. We were told of a very controversial fast rising actress who struggled to get the contact of a South South Governor. After weeks of unanswered phone calls, the number one man of the oil rich state picked the call and gave the actress an appointment. She allegedly traveled by air from Lagos state to the state capital, spent a full weekend with the Governor and came back empty handed. The story was so funny that the actress was said to have only gotten the privilege of riding in a Governor’s convoy for the very first time in her life.

It was equally disclosed that this derogatory business is equally done on the international scene. We gathered that our intelligent showbiz babes reportedly lower their guards during their foreign trips. It was said that for those who engage in this act, contacts are usually dropped with United Kingdom, US and Canada based Nigerians who hide under the umbrella of artiste managers and publicists but who are, in actual fact, engaged in the pimping business.

We equally discovered that the so called management companies strike such deal with foreigners, invite the girls to come over on purported tours or to perform in shows only to hand them over to randy men who pay them handsomely.

It was alleged that global chat engines such as Twitter and Face book have provided good platforms for numerous “RUNS BABES” in the showbiz industry to meets foreign based prospects and customers and these ones negotiate their arrangements themselves without any middleman and on such ‘deals’ they get whatever they can negotiate.

We even gathered how a top married actress once jetted to Europe to have a week’s tryst with a top Nigerian footballer and was paid 3 million Naira by the younger player.

Another A-list star actress was reported of being invited by a syndicate to Europe with the promise of getting 10,000 thousand dollars but when she got there, she met the shock of her life as the the so called international business men were five fast Nigerian boys who locked her up in an apartment and gang raped continuously for 10 days before releasing her. She was stranded and was only rescued by a former Nigerian journalist who now lives in London who paid her way back to the country.

Watch out for the full list of some of the actresses involved in this shameful act with proof.

Ghana actress, Nollywood DOP waxes in a secrete romance

In recent time, the Nigerian Film Industry and the Ghanaian Industry are beginning to prove that unity can be felt between the two industries as the collaboration is quite becoming stronger on a daily bases. But that notwithstanding, the connections is becoming far stronger, as love tangles have also been shared between actors and actresses of the two industries.
Recently, the tango as said to have fallen in the heart of Ghana screen diva, Martha Ankuma and Nollywood Director of Photography, Horesh Thomas as both are involved in a secrete affair that might end up in marriage.
The secrete relationship was said to have began few months ago when the Ghana star and one time participant of the popular TV reality show, the next movie star, came to Nigeria for a movie shoot, as the Young Dude could hardly resist her charming as they got along.
Though the duo has decided to keep it low for now but even though they both stay far apart, their hearts still seems to be connecting as fast as it can as they keep contacting themselves on phone.
Well if that be the case, it is obvious that the both industries is waxing so strong not only in building the economy through entertainment, it will soon breed children that will be representative of both countries in the nearest future.
